Happy Birthday - Masculine

Today's card is a masculine birthday card using the new Scallop Squares Duo Bigz die from the Holiday Mini catalog.  For added dimension on the card base, I used the Sanded background stamp with Crumb Cake ink.  I also colored the Engraved Greetings stamp using my Stampin' Write Markers and then ran that piece through my Big Shot using the Square Lattice embossing folder.  The edges are inked with a little Crumb Cake ink.

The final touch is a little piece of twill tape, which I frayed at the ends, folded in half, and affixed to the card using a button and a brad.  What do you think?

I'll be away from The Paper Pixie for the weekend, but I just received a shipment of new stamp sets, so stay tuned next week once I have a chance to play with my new goodies!  Thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful weekend!

Happy Birthday Gate Fold - cQc50

Today's birthday card features a few different techniques and ideas.  First, the card base is using the gate fold technique.  I cut a piece of card stock to 8-1/2" x 5-1/2" and (placing horizontally) scored it at 2-1/8" and 6-3/8" to achieve the gate fold.

Second, for some added dimension, I added a few score lines on the "gates" at random intervals on my scoring tool.

And third, you'll notice the Pear Pizzazz main focal point is a little different shape than we're used to seeing.  It is simply created by running a piece of card stock through the Big Shot using the Top Note Die TWICE.  The second time you run it through, turn the first piece that you created 90 degrees - centering it - before running it through a second time.  And, voila!  A square-ish Top Note piece!

My color scheme came from the ColourQ challenge this week.  Stop by and check it out - they always have wonderful color combinations for us!

Happy I Do Day

Today's card is a wedding card for friends of ours - the color scheme came from their invitation.  Can you spot where I used the Smooch Illuminate Top Coat?  I just added a tad to the flowers :).  For the border around "happy I do day", I used my Stampin' Write Marker in Wild Wasabi to just color the border of one of the Just Believe stamps sets.  The sentiment fit perfectly inside the border created!

A little bling, some dimensionals, a satin bow and voila!  Thanks for stopping by The Paper Pixie today! Hope you all had a wonderful weekend!
