Roses for Remembrance - PPA43

This week's Pals Paper Arts challenge is a Memorial Day theme challenge.  When I think of Memorial Day, I think red, white, and blue - and roses for remembrance.  I've had Julie Wiliams' blog tutorial for making paper roses bookmarked for a long time and thought making a paper rose for this challenge would be perfect!  You can find Julie's tutorial on her blog here.

I also successfully created a "stay put bow", and I love how easy it is once you get it right!  You can find the video for the "stay put bow" here.

A couple more things to point out on this card - I used the Extra Large Two-Step Bird punch to create the leaves for the rose.  I also sponged the edges of the rose petals as well as the Whisper White layer with Real Red classic ink.

MOJO139 & cQc33 - Happy Birthday!

Here's my take on this week's Mojo Monday and ColourQ challenges combined.  I love these colors together (I substituted Old Olive for Kiwi Kiss) - and absolutely love the handbag that inspired the colors for this week!  I have a small obsession with handbags :).  I like the funky, different sketch too - something out of my comfort zone, but I enjoyed pulling it all together.

This is a birthday card for one of my dearest friends, Stephanie - we've been friends since we were 3!  I hope she likes it!

Congratulations Graduate!

My sister-in-law just graduated from UGA with her MSW this past weekend and we are SO PROUD of her!  Here's the card I made for her - with UGA colors of course!  I really can't get enough of the Well Scripted stamp set - wish it was still available!

Happy Mother's Day!

Happy Mother's Day to all the amazing moms out there!  This is a bittersweet day for me having lost my Mom, but I have a lot of wonderful mothers in my life to be so thankful for!

This is my Mother's Day card this year.  The card layout is similar to a card we made at my upline's (Christina Dungca-Lico) stamp club - I just tweaked it a little bit.  I love making these flowers - they're so easy to do with just a couple of punches and a bone folder.  I used the bone folder to break down the paper a little bit so it curls and I sponged the edges of the lighter pink punchouts for some added dimension.

Masculine Happy Birthday - ColourQ 31

Here's a masculine birthday card using the colors in the ColourQ challenge.  I decided to use punch art to design a "patterned" paper and I'm really happy with how it turned out.  I need to work on the assembly of it next time.  This time, I first took a 8.5 x 11 sheet of cardstock and assembled my pattern.  Then I tried to cut it using my Tabletop Paper Cutter and that didn't go so well!  Next time I think I'll cut the background cardstock to size, assemble the pattern, and then cut the excess hanging off the background cardstock with scissors.

Mojo Monday 137 - A Star is Born!

My co-worker just had a baby girl on April 30 and this is the first opportunity I've had to create a baby card since I've started papercrafting.  I love the sentiments in the Picture This hostess set (Level 1) from the Occasions Mini catalog and those of you that know me know I LOVE STARS!!!  So, needless to say, I had a lot of fun putting this card together :).

I used the new Bitty Buttons with the coordinating punches and stamps - aren't they just adorable?  And the polka-dot background was created using a stamp!

Monthly Card Swap - Sassy Stampers & Co

Here's my card for the Sassy Stampers & Co May card swap.  This month, the theme is Congratulations or Summer, so I chose to go with a wedding/bridal shower theme.  This was the first time I tried watercoloring and I used the tip in the Summer Mini catalog and tried watercoloring outside the lines.  Isn't the new Blissful Bride stamp set great?
