TESC110 - Happy Birthday

I'm trying a new challenge this week with the Taylored Expressions Sketch Challenge.  This is the first time I've used the new Watercolor Trio stamp set from the Summer Mini that becomes available Saturday!

To stamp this card, I punched out 9 squares from Whisper White.  I then applied Dotto adhesive (temporary adhesive) to the back of each square and aligned them on a scrap piece of paper the same size as the Really Rust background card stock on the finished card.  Next, I stamped off each image to get a lighter image and then stamped directly onto the pre-assembled squares.  Once I was happy with the image, I removed the squares and arranged them on the Really Rust card stock in the same manner as on the scrap piece of paper.  Somewhat tedious, but I love how it turned out!  I also love the little dimensional butterfly :).  Thanks for looking!

Stamp Sets Watercolor Trio (W-117050; C-120084)

Mojo Monday 136 & ColourQ 30 - Happy Birthday

This week, I'm trying two challenges in one - a sketch challenge and a color challenge.  It's nice to get some assistance with colors!  I often struggle with color combinations, so I thought I'd try a color challenge this week.  I would have never put these colors together, but I really like the combination!

This card is for my "grandmother" Ruthie (my cousins' grandmother) for her 90th birthday!  She is such a wonderful, loving, caring person - she brings sunshine to everyone's life.  Lots of love to you, Ruthie!

For this challenge, I tried my blender pens for the first time and I really like them!  I just squeezed my ink pads to get some ink onto the lid of the pad and used the blender pen to color in this beautiful stamp from the new Summer Mini catalog.  Thanks for looking!

Happy Birthday - Masculine

Another Birthday card for a dear guy friend of mine.  I used the Movers & Shapers to create the card base.  I cut the layers for the Fine Flourish stamp thinking they would be the right size, but when I stamped the image, it was way too small.  So, I decided to repeat the image to fill in the white space and really like how it came out!  I also tried to do a Stay Put Bow, but punched two holes instead of one!  That's what happens when you think you remember the instructions instead of referring to them again.  Oh well!  The bow still came out okay, but now I know how to do it right!  Thanks for looking and have a wonderful weekend!

Stamp Sets Fine Flourish (115709), Wow Flowers (111714)

Mojo Monday 134 - Wedding

Here's my take on this week's Mojo Monday challenge as well as a sneak peek at a couple of items from the new Summer Mini catalog which will be available May 1!  The stamp set is Blissful Bride and the overall shimmer/sparkle on the card was done with Smooch Spritz in Vanilla Shimmer.  I LOVE the Smooch Spritz!  They will come in 4 different colors and I chose Vanilla Shimmer for a sheer look.

I created this card for my friend Poe's wedding this coming weekend in Cincinnati.  I can't wait to celebrate her wedding and also hang with my college/high school friends.  I'll also get to spend some time with family as well - looking forward to it!

My Stampin' Space

Introducing my stampin' space!!!  Based on the amount of supplies I have, you may find it hard to believe that I only just started papercrafting/stamping this January!  I joined the Stampin' Up! family as a hobby demonstrator at the end of February and I've jumped into this hobby with my whole heart.

I've had a lot of people ask me how I got into my new hobby.  For 8 years, I was a fraud and forensic technology consultant with Ernst & Young.  With that career, I traveled a lot and worked crazy hours - my work/life balance was out of whack.  My biggest regret during those 8 years was not taking the time to recognize the many wonderful people in my life for their birthdays, anniversaries, new babies, etc. with a card.  I LOVE getting cards in the mail and I wanted to do the same for all my loved ones.

So, recently, I changed careers and I am now a resource manager at Ernst & Young.  My work hours are more predictable and I decided to pick up a new hobby - papercrafting and stamping!  I love making cards to send to my family and friends and sharing my creations with all of you.  So, here's where I spend my nights and weekends making my creations:

I'll point out a few things in the photo.  First of all, this is in our bedroom :).  I've taken over one wall - but my husband is SO supportive of my new hobby!  My dresser is one of my work areas and to the left of the photo is a desk armoire - the cabinet folds out to a desk (inside is our computer and printer and the desktop is my sit-down workspace).  Of course I have a TV, so that I can watch my shows while stamping (Glee, American Idol, Grey's Anatomy, Gossip Girl - to name a few).  The 3-drawer chest holds all of my stamp sets and the shelving beneath it (Jetmax cubes) holds a bunch of different things for now.  The file box on the dresser holds all of my 8.5x11 cardstock.  The embellishment center above is a magnet board (Jetmax).  My stamp pads and reinkers are stored in a unit by Organize More and I LOVE IT!  The punches are stored on Bygel rods and the cards are displayed on a Deka curtain wire - both from Ikea.

Let me know if you have any questions about anything else in the picture.  Thanks for looking!

Monthly Card Swap - Sassy Stampers & Co

Sorry about the picture quality - I have some learning to do to get my photos just right :).  Here is the card I made for a new monthly card swap I'm participating in.  It's with my upline demonstrator and the demonstrators in her downline.  This month, the theme is a card for Mother's Day or Father's Day.  I can't wait to receive my cards from fellow demonstrators!

I used my new Movers & Shapers die to create the card base in a snap.  The die cuts and scores a standard A2 card and you can select from a variety of "windows" that also have coordinating punches that fit within the window.  Such a cool idea!

After I created the card base, I wasn't sure what to do with the front of the card, but I couldn't get my mind off a weave pattern using paper.  So I used coordination designer series paper and cuts strips in varying widths and assembled the pieces to fit around the window.  I added some additional Spring colors for the flower and the Happy Mother's Day sentiment.  Thanks for looking!

PPA38 - A Sketch Challenge

Here's my take on this week's Pals Paper Arts challenge.  I started off not having any idea what kind of card I was going to make.  I absolutely love stars - I've always loved them, always will.  I haven't used my Seeing Stars stamp set yet, so I started with that.  I embossed the stars with silver embossing powder and then decided to make a Congratulations card!  I absolutely LOVE the Well Scripted stamp set in the Summer Mini and hope that it makes it to the new Idea Book & Catalog!  Thanks for looking and have a great weekend!

Birthday Medallion

I love this medallion stamp - there are so many ways to use it - stamp part of it, all of it, or just the center of it - it looks great no matter what.  I used my Circle Scissor Plus for the circles and added a little bling to the center of the medallion (I punched the hole using the paper piercer).  I tied my ribbon around my Stampin' Mist bottle to make it the perfect size for this standard card.  My mom always tied her ribbons around household items to make them the perfect size for her projects.  Thanks for looking!

PPA36 - A Color Challenge

This week's Pals Paper Arts challenge was a color challenge - and the colors are just perfect for Spring and made me think of Mother's Day.  It's a difficult day for me having lost my mom, but I love recognizing the wonderful mothers in my life.  I really like the way this card turned out (although I'd like to move the little birdie just slightly towards the middle to make it perfect, but I glued it down already - oh well!), so I might just make a few of them to send out for Mother's Day.

Thanks for looking and Happy Easter!  Also, a very Happy Birthday to my beautiful mother-in-law, Karen!

Mojo Monday 132 - Happy Birthday

This week's Mojo Monday challenge was for a circle or square card - I opted for square!  This was my first time using the Circle Scissor Plus - so easy to use!  Before cutting my first circle, I followed the advice of a fellow stamper and replaced the foam feet with stamp rubber and the Circle Scissor Plus didn't slip at all while I used it.  Click here for details.  Don't you just love the Sweet Pea Designer Series Paper?

Ink: Pretty in Pink, Chocolate Chip
Paper: So Saffron, Whisper White, Chocolate Chip, Sweet Pea DSP
